Our Story

The Scheffette was launched as a LinkedIn Newsletter in September 2022 as a blend between a personal blog and public legal education.

On December 31, 2022, The Scheffette won a Canadian Law Blog Award (“Clawbie”), in the category of Best Social Media Accounts.

Charlene believes in using her legal education to assist those around her. As a result, she is an avid volunteer and sits on numerous non-profit boards and committees. This desire to teach and share contributed to her desire to start The Scheffette as a means to inform the public about the areas of the law that are most applicable to their every day lives such as home-buying, estate planning and administration, and starting or operating a business.

Charlene firmly believes in mentorship, having already had many incredible mentors herself early in her journey. It’s her hope that her personal anecdotes, advice, and educational content are able to help someone else in their journey, whatever stage they are at.
